The way we accessorize communicates to others as signifiers about what our personality might be like. Mobile device accessories are mass-produced fashion and design objects, projecting identity that we constantly carry around with us. What kind of device you have chosen can be interpreted as a social status symbol. Furthermore, we as consumers often consider how to make these devices, such as the iPhone, more individual and emblematic of our own personality.
This work takes a series of unique iPhone cases and composes them in a pile on the gallery floor. Viewers are encouraged to exchange their iPhone case with one in the pile. In turn, visitors had to leave their old case on the heap, creating a continuously evolving sculpture.
